Why is printer ink so expensive?

The answer to that question is fairly simple. It is sort of known as the razor marketing technique: Sell the consumer the razor at a loss, so you can then upsell the blade. The same idea applies here: Sell the printer at a loss, so then you can make back the money through ink. After all, all printers will run out of ink, forcing the consumer to buy expensive ink.

The problem at some point has to stop. Nowadays, it is often cheaper to buy a whole new printer with ink than buy the ink alone. My family has done this so many times already. Our garage is filled with nearly a dozen printers with empty ink that we will never use again. It’s not worth selling them as well because printers are sold so cheaply.

Why are these companies doing this to us? Can’t they just sell printers and ink at affordable prices, rather than practically give a printer away for free and charge a kidney for the ink? This way, we can cut down on the number of printers thrown out each year.

Too many streaming services!

Remember the days when all you needed to watch shows online was a Netflix subscription. Everything was all bundled up together in one. There was a huge selection of shows in front of you. This convenience was probably one of the reasons why Netflix grew so much.

Then the other media companies became jealous of Netflix’s success. They wanted a piece of the streaming services pie. For consumers, this is too frustrating. In most services, the available shows are so limited.
